Description:
- GSAT-1 was launched on board a technology demonstrator (GSLV-D1) April 18, 2001 as an experimental satellite for performance
monitoring, tracking, range safety/flight safety and preliminary orbit determination.
Mission details:
- The first GSLV launch was aborted one second before the lift-off on 28 March by the Automatic Launch Processing System (ALS)
after it detected that one of the strap-on boosters did not develop the required thrust.
Based on a detailed analysis of the data obtained during the five seconds' operation of the four strap-on moters during the count
down sequence, it was established that the raison for one of the boosters not developing the required thrust was due to defective
plumbing in the oxidiser flow line of the engine.
